It’s Episode 36! Sam and Martin from Song by Song return for the 2016 Shane Black comedy The Nice Guys starring the heartthrob Ryan Gosling and everyone’s least favourite Antipodean Russell Crowe.

The Nice Guys - Flixwatcher Podcast - Image 003

Its Sam’s choice despite the fact he HATES Russell Crowe, lets face it the man doesn’t do himself any favours but he has made some pretty decent films (including this) when teamed up with the Gosling and Shane Black’s script playing a washed up, a bit of a loser bloated waster it feels a fitting role.

There are lots of influences sewn in together and there are a lot of brilliantly funny moments – mostly down to Gosling’s physical comedy and slapstick – PLEASE, PLEASE DO MORE COMEDY – he’s the perfect idiot but with his heart in the right place to balance the bitter and nastier Crowe.

It’s hardly a feminist classic, not that it sets out to be, but it is fairly enjoyable and Gosling is brilliant and overall it scores a respectable 4.0 (incredible considering the levels of decimal places!)  – we’d love a sequel!
