Russell Bailey (Not Just For Kids Podcast) and Will Chich return to Flixwatcher to review Russell’s choice Rebel Ridge.
Rebel Ridge (2024) is a Netflix action thriller written, produced, directed and edited by Jeremy (Green Room) Saulnier. It stars Aaron Pierre as Terry, a ex Marine who is hoping to post bail for his cousin. While on his way, he is rammed off his bike by local police officers who seize the bail money worth $36,000 via civil forfeiture. Terry refuses to give in to the police and enlists the support of AnnaSophia Robb’s Summer McBride, a courthouse clerk. After she discovers a number of cases similar to Terry’s cousin they uncover a history of police corruption.
Rebel Ridge is a taut thriller with elements of the western genre. Recommendability scores were very high, only let down by low small screen – we wanted to see this at the cinema Netflix! But it still scores 3.97 overall.

Barbarian (2022) is the debut horror film from write and director Zach (Weapons) Cregger. It stars Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård, and Justin Long. A double booked Airbnb rental turns into a nightmare when a secret basement is discovered and the guests are not alone.
Recommendability scores for Barbarian were mixed, given its gore and shock moments any non horror fans will probably find it too much, however, if you love to be shocked then go for it! Despite the low recommendability scores Barbarian still scores a respectable 4.03 overall.
