Savina Petkova (MUBI Notebook, Little White Lies) and Anna Smith (Girls on Film podcast) return to Flixwatcher to review Savina’s choice Another Round.

Another Round (in Danish Druk, “binge drinking) is the award-winning 2020 black comedy from director Thomas Vinterberg. It stars stars Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Bo Larsen, Magnus Millang, and Lars Ranthe as four high school teachers who decide to experiment with maintaining 0.05% level of intoxication throughout the day.

That is the plot! Another Round manages to balance the outright hilarity that comes with people being very drunk and stupid, the pathos that comes with alcoholism and a genuine message to live life at the fullest.

Featuring one of the greatest recent dancing scenes by Mads, it is no surprise that Another Round scored very highly on recommendability. Strong scores for the other categories give a very high score 4.01 of overall.
