Love and Monsters (2020) is a monster adventure film directed by Michael Matthews and staring Dylan O’Brien as Joel and Jessica Henwick as Aimee. Seven years after the Monsterpocalypse, Joel, along with the rest of humanity, has been living underground ever since giant creatures took control of the land. After reconnecting over the radio with his high school girlfriend, Aimee, who is now 80 miles away at a coastal colony, Joel begins to fall for her again. As Joel realizes that there’s nothing left for him underground, he decides to venture out to Aimee, despite all the dangerous monsters that stand in his way.
Love and Monsters is a super sweet tale of one mans quest to be reunited with his sweetheart but with creatively designed monsters. With a runtime of one hour and 49 mins it’s an easy watch, which was reflected in the scores for recommendability and Love and Monsters scores 3.61 overall.
